Synopsis:

From being specks of dried ink on pages the memoirs of Shaukat Azmi and Kaifi Azmi are once again given life to, by daughter Shabana Azmi, son-in-law Javed Akhter and accompanied by Jaswinder Singh in the celebration: KAIFI AUR MAIN. The theatrical presentation collates the journey of the two extraordinary people who today stand to be a source of inspiration to millions.

The presentation mosaics of excerpts from Shaukat Azmi’s book “Yaad Ki Rehguzar”, which paints us through Kaifi’s expedition from the time of his childhood in Mijwan, Uttar Pradesh, to his growth as a social and cultural activist along which, was his building love story with Shaukat and to his path-breaking work as a humanist poet.

Staged in many parts of the world, Indian People’s Theatre Association’s (IPTA) presentation is once again a tribute to a renowned Urdu Poet and film lyricist Kaifi’s contribution to theatre and for his inspirational spirit which has led generations of theatre enthusiasts to make theatre relevant in today’s time.
