Malmsteen in Singapore!

Yngwie Malmsteen

A rare chance to experience one of rock’s most gifted and influential guitar players unleashing his devistating fusion of neo-classical rock, metal and blues in Singapore today at Fort Canning Park. This tour is in support of Yngwie’s latest release “Unleash The Fury”.

Yngwie Johann Malmsteen’s “Unleash The Fury World Tour” also features RISING FORCE with Dougie White on Vocals, Derek Sherinian on Keyboards, Mick Cervino on Bass & Patrik Johansson on Drums. Yngwie J. Malmsteen arrived on LA’s Sunset Strip in the early 1980’s with little more than a Fender guitar and a spare pair of jeans, yet quickly established his place in guitar history as one of rock’s premier virtuoso guitarists. Along with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, and a handful of others, Yngwie has dominated the world of solo guitar for two decades. Yngwie created a guitar sound and approach that is totally unique and different from any other rock guitarist. An ear-searing blend of metallic bombast and classical beauty. He has elevated classical chops to new heights, adding a distinctive European stamp. Both enchantingly dark-sounding and blindingly fast. His 1984 album, “Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force,” established neo-classical melodic rock.

A legend in both style and technique, Yngwie’s long career reached new heights when his totally classical work for orchestra and solo electric guitar, “Concerto Suite,” was released, proving that his classical credentials were genuine. A respected musician among both his peers and his fans, Yngwie continues to play and compose at a level of mastery that many career musician only dream of.

  1. Yeah! From start where the Harleys’ rolled in till the finish, non- ending Malmsteenmania ! Hey, RJ, did u get thrown off stage? lol!!!

  2. Only once πŸ˜‰

  3. Dun ever try that again. Maybe next time you will be thrown outta the country instead of the stage πŸ˜€

πŸ˜• I just wonder whom is the Lazzy??????????? I need to patent my long used nick soon.

  4. I was right infront of the left Giant speaker, it didn;’ sound good at all because the Guitar sounded as if it were screeching. I was 15 minutes there and then decided to go to the back to see if the sound was actually better. I’ve waited 20 years for this concert and sadly the sound system was a real screw up. Yngwie with all his intensity and flair didn’t disappoint actually, he was the same Yngwie I knew back when I was in secondary 3, 1983 listening to Steeler and then Alcatrazz etc.He was the most influential guitarist and my perfect guitar GOD !

I saw Douggie White going to the back where the mixer guy was there, he was accompainied by a body guard, that was about 30 minutes before the show ended while Yngwie was blasting away furiously with his arpeggios and neoclassical riffs which he is famous for. Douggie White was a real nice guy, I saw a few fans coming up to him for a pic or an autograph, he never once swoosh them away, he took it in his stride and was really down to earth and friendly. Thats the way to go Douggie, that’s a cool and respectful guy !

The concert should be held in an Indoor stadium or at Suntec where Steve Vai held his remarkable concert in 2004. Yngwie should be given first class priority like all great legends. More advertisements should be done by the promoters. Unfortunately the crowd at Fort canning was a dismay.

Hopefully Yngiwie would come back to S/pore with another concert in future and hopefully the organizers will do a better job. Whatever it was, Yngwie kept his cool even though he knew the sound system was a real screw up at the beginning, he changed his Fender many times and towards the end of the show the music and sound was really starting to get the Malmsteen feel.

I was surpised that some nice young girls about 18yrs old who dressed up like any other innocent schoolgirl was into malmsteen’s music, its hows that Malmsteen’s music will carry on forever !

  5. Hey Joanne,
Don’t you know who is lazzy? πŸ™‚ Guess?

No, they won’t throw a music lover out of country. I have that much confidence in Singapore :))

  6. Hey Vince,
You are rite that sound system wasn’t that great but Malmsteen never let me realized that. He sounded even better than I had imagined. He has always been one of my role models when it comes to guitaring. I can’t believe I attended the concert and stood almost 5 steps away from him at one point of time before I was kind of pushed behind by body guards. [Yes, I was pushed out of the front area. I was *not* thrown out πŸ™‚ ]

And… 18yrs old girls in school dress is no suprise!!! It’s Malmsteenmania :))

  7. RJ – Tell that man he had no creativity. LOL!

  8. Ha ha! Sure!

  9. yeah.

i hope yngwie will come to indonesia and make a concert.

  10. yeah yngwie is the best and more with his song ATTACK im from MEXICO yngwie come here to do a concert

  11. Yangwie is good in playing guitar but Eddie Van Halen is more energetic. Nevertheless, I want to see Yangwie in a live concert.
